Four decades ago, Mr. D. Agarwalla initiated the cargo booking business after being introduced to it by a friend. Mr. Agarwalla found it interesting, challenging, remunerative and promising. He put in his hard work and youth to propel the business and today he is satisfied to have carved a respectable place for himself in the Calcutta shipping fraternity. His son Rajiv now looks after the day to day affairs of the business.
With all the experience which saw break-bulk vessels, barges & containers and consolidation, Mr. Rajiv started Kunal Ocean Agency Pvt Ltd. though the original company "D. Agarwall & Co" is also active.
In times of globalisation and fast changing needs of trade, shipping, transport and distribution, supply chain management and logistic have attained special importance as they form the major link between suppliers and buyers. Kunal Ocean Agency Pvt Ltd was established to offer all these services to its clients, who have also had faith in the company.
Currently, the company is handling different types of commodities like tea, dry flowers, food grains, leather goods, garments and engineering goods. We have also specialized ourselves to handle OOG cargo and to a certain extent haz chemicals in containers to different locations like Far–East and China.
Presently, we are handling a volume of 500-700 containers monthly from Calcutta/Haldia Port to Worldwide destinations.
Our future plan is to have a joint venture with International company to have a CFS near Haldia Port to cater to the projects, export oriented units for their export out of Haldia.
